General

What is Milo Subscriptions?

Milo Subscriptions is a WordPress plugin that lets you sell recurring subscriptions from your website. It works with WooCommerce or on its own in standalone mode, and supports fixed-term, lifetime, trial, and variable subscription products.

Is Milo Subscriptions free?

Yes. The core plugin is free and available on WordPress.org. Optional paid add-ons extend the core with features like abandoned cart recovery, gift subscriptions, dunning, and more.

Do I need WooCommerce?

No. Milo Subscriptions can run in two modes:

  • WooCommerce mode integrates with WooCommerce products, cart, and checkout.
  • Standalone mode uses Milo Subscriptions own catalog and checkout, powered directly by Stripe, and does not require WooCommerce.

Does Milo Subscriptions work with any theme?

Yes. Milo Subscriptions uses standard WooCommerce and WordPress templates, so it works with any properly coded theme. In standalone mode, the checkout is self-contained and styled to match your site colors.

Compatibility

Is Milo Subscriptions compatible with HPOS?

Yes. Milo Subscriptions fully supports WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS).

Is Milo Subscriptions compatible with block themes and the Site Editor?

Yes. Milo Subscriptions ships with blocks for the cart, checkout, and My Account pages, and is compatible with block themes and the Site Editor.

Can I migrate from WooCommerce Subscriptions?

Yes. Use the built-in Migration tool under Milo Subscriptions → Import to import your existing WooCommerce Subscriptions data. The tool preserves subscription IDs, statuses, next payment dates, and customer links.

Can I migrate from another subscription platform?

Yes. Milo Subscriptions can import from CSV and from several third-party platforms. See the Migration guide.

Products and billing

What types of subscription products can I sell?

  • Simple subscriptions with a fixed price and interval.
  • Variable subscriptions with multiple price and interval variations.
  • Lifetime subscriptions with a one-time payment.
  • Fixed-term subscriptions that expire on a specific date.
  • Free trials and sign-up fees.

See Core Features for details.

Can customers switch between plans?

Yes. Customers can upgrade, downgrade, or cross-grade between variations of a variable subscription. You control which switches are allowed and how prorated amounts are calculated. See Switching.

Can customers cancel their own subscription?

Yes. Customers can cancel from their My Account page. You can disable self-cancellation or require a reason in Milo Subscriptions → Settings. See Cancellation.

What happens if a renewal payment fails?

Milo Subscriptions retries failed payments on a configurable schedule and sends dunning emails to the customer. After a final failure the subscription moves to On-hold or Cancelled, depending on your settings.

Payments

Which payment gateways are supported?

The Milo Payments add-on supports Stripe, PayPal, Square, and Mollie. Most WooCommerce gateways that support subscriptions (tokenization) also work in WooCommerce mode.

Can I accept manual renewals?

Yes. Manual renewals allow customers to pay for each renewal manually through your checkout. Enable them in Milo Subscriptions → Settings → Payments.

Do I need a Stripe account in standalone mode?

Yes. Standalone mode is powered directly by Stripe, so a connected Stripe account is required.

Admin and management

Where can I see my subscriptions?
