Stripe Bridge

Stores that migrate to Milo usually run the official WooCommerce Stripe gateway, and on its own it only does recurring billing for WooCommerce Subscriptions. Milo Stripe Bridge makes it a first-class Milo citizen, with zero re-tokenization: your Stripe account, customers, saved cards, and grandfathered mandates keep working exactly as they are.

What it does

– Every sign-up establishes an off-session mandate. When an order contains a subscription, the card is saved for off-session use and SCA runs while the customer is still present, including checkouts that go through a 3DS challenge (a path where WC Stripe only fires its legacy filter; the bridge covers both).
– Card changes that can’t break renewals. Customers switch cards from My Account through a form that only offers cards carrying a real off-session mandate. The Stripe renewal source is kept in sync on every change, and Milo’s default token path is vetoed so it can never silently desynchronize.
– A mandate health page. One list in the Milo admin classifies every Stripe subscription: mandate OK, legacy source, or no renewal source, so you can verify a whole migration at a glance and fix stragglers before their renewal date.
– Renewals just work. Milo charges renewals through WC Stripe’s own off-session payment code, against the same source meta WooCommerce Subscriptions used.

Made for migrations

Pair it with Milo’s built-in migrator: import your WooCommerce Subscriptions base, keep the WC Stripe gateway, and check the mandate health page when the import finishes. Grandfathered mandates from the WCS era renew as before; new sign-ups get clean SCA-proof mandates from day one.

Settings, not surprises

Legacy pre-SCA cards are hidden from the change-payment form by default (they can be declined off-session in SCA markets), with a setting to allow them for stores whose base is grandfathered, and a developer filter for full control.

Built on real-world groundwork

This add-on exists because David McDonald at DMC Web ran the problem into the ground first. He migrated a 1,538-subscription store off WooCommerce Subscriptions while keeping the client’s own Stripe account, wrote the shim that made WC Stripe behave under Milo, and reported precisely where the official gateway falls short. Stripe Bridge is that groundwork, finished and supported.
